D.Foe

Biography

  • D.Foe is formed of two musicians who were founding members of music collectives that were pioneering forces behind Acid Jazz, Trip-Hop and Big Beat in the 90's.

Rob Clydesdale and Mark Daniels first worked together 15 years ago on a project for Nokia. They sampled a voice-over that Harry Dean Stanton recorded for a Nokia TV commercial, using it to create a No.1 single in the dance chart. This was an integral part of Nokia's N95 advertising campaign.

Rob and Mark come from different music backgrounds but are kindred spirits who broke rules, pushed boundaries and blurred the edges between music genres.

Mark was among the first artists/producers to scratch, sample and loop, mixing the DIY attitude of Punk, the freedom of Jazz, Hip Hop beats and Dub roots. Rob is an all-round musician but a virtuoso guitarist who cut his creative teeth on experimental rock and funk music.

They've collaborated with a diverse collection of artists including David Bowie, Pete Shelly, Grand Master Flash, Sinitta, Viv Stanshall, Mad Professor, Rico, Ian Dury, Portion Control, Brand New Heavies and Brian Auger.

Both were always more comfortable working behind the scenes, planting the seeds for underground music that would become the soundtrack for the lives of three music loving generations.

These days they're more interested in creating soundtracks for film television and video games... combining an uber-cool past with a love and knowledge of most music genre's - film score, classical, folk, ambient, electronic, orchestral ...
