Biography

Joe currently serves on two series as a writer/consulting producer, one for Netflix and another for Singapore's Mediacorp TV, in addition to several television projects in development. Other writing/producing credits include ABC's DECEPTION, THE FLASH and THE MESSENGERS on the CW Network, ESPN's TROJAN WAR, and he was a writer and actor for the Emmy nominated FENCES on PBS for two seasons.

Joe received his MFA in writing for screen and television from USC's School of Cinematic Arts, where he is now a professor of screenwriting and TV drama writing. He is a graduate of the Warner Brothers TV Writers Program, where he is also now a guest instructor. A nominee for two Humanitas Fellowships, Joe also teaches screenwriting and acting for Los Angeles City College, screenwriting for actors at Ivana Chubbuck Studio in LA, trains TV writers for Disney/ABC and globally for Netflix International, and is a selection panelist & instructor for both the Red Sea International Film Festival Series and Film labs in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

As an actor, he starred in The CW's acclaimed series EASY MONEY, from the producers of THE SOPRANOS/NORTHERN EXPOSURE/ CHICAGO MED among many other screen roles, and has performed, directed, and produced theatre on stages around the world including Seattle Repertory Theatre, Playwrights Horizons, Cleveland Playhouse, Baltimore Theatre Project, Chicago's Prop Theatre, The Rubicon Theatre, and in many touring productions across Europe & Canada - most recently in the role of Jackson Pollock in a new play by Juilliard's Moni Yakim and David D'Agostino.

Joe is the Founding Artistic Director of Tricklock Company, professional touring theatre in residence at the University of New Mexico, creator of multiple theatre education programs, founder of The Revolutions International Theatre Festival, and founding producer of both the Rubicon & California International Theatre Festivals, and is co-creator of the Free Speech Comedy Art Series with Paul Provenza.

Originally from Connecticut, Joe grew up bilingual on the US/Mexico border and now lives in Los Angeles with his two daughters.
