Member of the Europaea Academy, she had received distinctions such as the Jacinto do Prado Coelho Award, from the Portuguese Center of the International Association of Literary Critics, and decorations such as Lady of the Order of the Academic Palms of France, in 1981, Officer of the Order of the Academic Palms of France, in 1987, and that of Grand Officer of the Order of Infante D. Henrique, in 2007.
