  • Sut Jhally is a Professor of Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His work delves into cultural studies, advertising, media, and consumption.

    Jhally is also the executive director of the Media Education Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 1992. This foundation produces and distributes documentaries and educational resources to encourage critical thinking about the impact of mass media. He has produced over 40 documentaries on media literacy topics.

    Born in Kenya and raised in England, Jhally pursued higher education at the University of York before moving to Canada. He accepted a scholarship to the University of Victoria and later earned his PhD from Simon Fraser University.
