Davis sued the creative trio behind The Firm for withholding royalties and claimed coauthorship of the videos he worked on. His case was appealed twice, but he was denied on the basis that he was merely a cinematographer and consultant. His appeals were joined with that of Barbara Mooneyham, who separately claimed breach of contract.
