Biography

Ken Barrington was born on November 24, 1930 in Reading, Berkshire, UK. He died on March 14, 1981 in Barbados, West Indies.

His overseas batting average of 69.18 is the highest amongst batsmen with a minimum of 3000 runs made while touring. He also averaged over 50 in 5 of the 6 countries he visited, with the exception of the West Indies where he averaged 45 apart from averaging 50.70 at home.

Was voted by Wisden as the 7th greatest test batsman of all-time in 2001.

His scoring rates had an upward progression with the stature of the game played. He averaged just over 45 in First Class Cricket, 58.67 in international test matches and 69.18 in tests played overseas.

His career ended as a result of a heart attack during the Ashes tour of Australia in 1968 and he died as a result of another while managing the English team during the tour of the West Indies in 1981.

Represented Surrey in English County Cricket, the same club represented by fellow English batting legend Sir Jack Hobbs.
