Biography

Manu Anand is an Indian film director and writer who predominantly works in the Tamil film industry. He is mostly known for directing Mr. X and FIR.

He was born in Kottarakara, Kollam district, Kerala. Manu completed his primary education from Chinmaya Vidyalaya and Balakok Matriculation school. He earned a bachelor's degree in physiotherapy from Saveetha University before completing post graduation from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

While in Melbourne, Manu did his foundation in Filmmaking from the world renowned Victorian Collage of Arts in Melbourne and subsequently started working on Corporate videos, Short films and Documentaries. Manu also Directed a Pilot episode for a TV show for the local television channel in Melbourne, before deciding to pursue a filmmaking career in India.

Manu assisted renowned Indian filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon in 7 feature films in Tamil & Telugu in various capacities as an Assistant Director, a First AD and an Executive Producer. He made his debut as a Writer/Director with the Tamil feature film FIR, an action-packed thriller movie that released worldwide in 2022.

He received great recognition and accolades for his work. In 2023, he commenced working in his second Directorial espionage action thriller named Mr. X (tamil), which is scheduled for a theatrical release in November 2025.

Manu has impressed the audiences with his artistic brilliance and aims to enhance the efficiency of his directorial credentials. In his leisure time, he loves travelling, reading books, watching movies and spending time with cats and dogs.
