Trivia

  • She was working in celery fields near Los Angeles when she saw an ad for Hollywood chorus girls. This led to modeling jobs and burlesque. Her beauty, and her act imitating Marilyn Monroe, made her a top icon of burlesque.
  • Promoted the Miss Exotic World Pageant annually, for 16 consecutive years, in which burlesque stars of old and anew met with their many fans, a new Miss was crowned. At her estate (29053 Wild Rd, Helendale, Los Angeles, California, USA) she founded and was an active curator of the Exotic World Burlesque Museum & Striptease Hall of Fame, later renamed to Burlesque Hall of Fame. It features stage props and personal lingerie from such stars as Sally Rand and lingerie from Gypsy Rose Lee. Some years after her death, the museum pieces were taken to Los Angeles, and the estate fell into decay.
