Mini bio

  • Ava Ghahremanifar (born on 29 October of 2000 - Tehran) is an Iranian painter, independent filmmaker and writer. Her father, Faramarz Ghahremanifar (1965-2016) was an Iranian artist and the pioneer of stereoscopy in Iran, and her mother, Tayebeh Ebrahim is also an artist, a stage, cinema and television actress. She began her career as an amateur assistant stereographer of her father on feature films, at the age of 11. Through small experiences as a child, she got more familiar with the set, cameras and stereography. She has won several awards in painting and photography competitions since 2016 and been a participant in various national and international group photography and painting exhibitions. In 2017, when she was still an art school student, she started taking filmmaking courses at Iranian Youth Cinema Society, and in 2019, she graduated in painting from Tehran's School of Fine Arts. Due to her comprehension of composition, and passion for colors and lights, she was also the storyboard artist, costume and production designer of a number of short films, including her own. In the Autumn of 2019, she had her first professional short film "The Gull's Shriek" filmed, which was later premiered in Australia, at 25th Canberra Short Film Festival.
