Andy Goldsworthy was born in 1956 in Cheshire, England, UK. He is known for Rivers and Tides (2001), Leaning Into The Wind (2017) and Andy Goldsworthy in Conversation with Andrew Graham-Dixon (2026).

He was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2000 Queen's Birthday Honors List for his services to sculpture and art.

Father of Anna Goldsworthy, Holly Goldsworthy, James Goldsworthy, and Thomas Goldsworthy.

He became interested in materials found in nature while working on Yorkshire farms as a teenager; he harrowed fields, and picked and stacked stones.
