Mini bio

  • Bruce Lapointe was born (1974) and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Bruce's love of film throughout his early teenage years quickly blossomed into a passion to be involved in filmmaking. He went from creating movies and daytime talk shows in his basement with friends, to receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Ottawa and then the basic and advanced filmmaking degrees from the New York Film Academy. While in New York, subsisting on bagels and a dream, Bruce wrote, directed, edited and produced five short films, including the 27 minute film entitled "The Green Room". "The Green Room" provided Bruce with his first foray into the film festival world as it played at 3 festivals including the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. Bruce returned to Montreal in 1999 where he began writing his first feature film "Two Summers". "Two Summers" was completed and released theatrically in 2002 and went on to screen at 20 international film festivals and win 5 awards. Throughout his early film career, Bruce fell increasingly in love with the art of editing; the ability to sculpt and even drastically alter a story in post-production. Bruce began to build a career in editing that has since garnered several Canadian Screen Award nominations as well as provided entertaining and thought provoking stories for over 20 broadcasters and distributors. In 2018, Bruce is currently editing documentaries and writing feature, fiction films in Toronto, Canada.
