Garland was the only survivor of a plane crash on 11th of September 2015 on the set of Tom Cruise's movie "American Made (2017)", which killed Alan D. Purwin and Carlos Berl. Garland was also badly injured during this plane accident.
Garland lives in Waleska, Georgia, who works as Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor, besides his camera work.
