The term "Latin American action cinema" may sound contradictory to many, even almost utopian; or at least that is how it seemed until the arrival of Ernesto Díaz Espinoza, who since his first film, "Kiltro", and throughout an extensive filmography, has given a fair place to genre cinema in our region. His cinema draws from many sources: martial arts, superheroes in "Mirageman", or exploitation flicks in "Mandrill" or "Bring me the Head of the Machine Gun Woman". But these films go beyond mere tribute; They are also due to the characteristics and idiosyncrasies of his country. A reinterpretation of certain elements closer to the Latin American feeling. This is how Díaz Espinoza's universe - one of cool criminals, fierce fighters, and women at arms - becomes one that operates under his own rules, a genre on its own. A talent worth discovering under a flurry of kicks and punches or a hail of bullets.

He is a big fan of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill movies.

He used to give special thanks on the closing credits of his films to the directors who inspired each of his movies.

He and Marko Zaror are friends since hi-school.

In 2003 he directed a mini-DV amateur film entitled "El Tronador" for the mexploitation market.

The Chilean ingredient is what makes "Bring Me the Head of the Machine Gun Woman" different. We strongly believe that the only way to do something authentic, is giving it the taste of our land, as the Chilean wine (is exported because it is a flavor not found anywhere else in the world, only here). And genre films are exportable films; there are fans all around the world, looking for new points of view and reinterpretations of the genre. The "Chilean thing" is what makes this movie not just another exploitation movie, but makes it fresh and exotic.

Genre films are entertainment... pop culture. That's what we want, to make pop culture movies that reflect a society, an idiosyncrasy, showing a country through entertainment.
