Biography

Alyssa Botelho is a Portuguese-American writer, director, and actor whose work blends dark comedy, magical realism, and suspense within richly imagined historical worlds.

She is a 2025 - 2026 Fulbright U.S. Student Research Grantee, conducting research in the Azores to develop her debut historical feature, The Last Frontier. Her grant-funded short film Sweet Freedom has screened at film festivals, colleges, museums, and historical societies across the United States. Her short film To Dust All Return earned multiple New England Student Emmy Awards, including Best Director and Best Short Fiction.
