IN 2012 McDonnell directed "Hatchet III". McDonnell also directed the critically lauded live action rendition of the "Dead Island" commercial which received over 1 million hits in the first week of its release on Youtube.

The music video also won the "Loudwire 5th Annual Music Awards" for best metal video of 2015. Repentless spawned two more videos McDonnell wrote and directed of a prequel and a sequel for Slayer. In 2021 McDonnell wrote and Directed a music video for the band Exodus " The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves".
In 2022 A film directed by McDonnell starring the Foo Fighters called " Studio 666 " will be released worldwide by Open Road pictures.
