Has been working with boy band Take That frequently in the 90s. He was the director and producer of the Pops Tour in 1994, and the Nobody Else Tour in 1995. Gary Barlow (singer in Take That) writes in his book on working with Kim: "There was one thing we did decide on: we all felt that Kim Gavin, the theatrical producer we'd met at the Children's Royal Variety Show, would be great to work with. From our very first meeting with him and his wife Helen, he was on 'our page', partly because he was big on dance, having trained as a ballet dancer and choreographer, and partly because he was used to big productions with huge casts. Kim was the first person to let Howard and Jason make up their own dance routines. He's a great leader - he'll change a few things, but he was one of the first people we worked with who gave us enough scope to feel the show was our own. We just clicked with Kim, he would even finish our sentences for us, and from that moment on he became a pivotal part of every Take That live show." When Take That decided to go on tour again in 2006, the only person they wanted to work with was Kim. Kim has thus also worked with Take That on the Ultimate Tour in 2006 and on the Beautiful World Tour in 2007.
