- Gerry McNamara was born on September 22, 1934 in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada. He was an actor, known for Börje (2023) and Offside: The Harold Ballard Story (2023). He died on April 11, 2025 in Canada.
- Before serving as the Maple Leafs' GM, McNamara played as a minor league goaltender, but was called up to play seven games with the Toronto NHL team in the 1960-61 and 1969-70 seasons.
