Biography

J Dilla was born on February 7, 1974 in Detroit, Michigan, USA. He was a composer and actor, known for Get Carter (2000), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) and Miss Congeniality (2000). He died on February 10, 2006 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

THe last album he released during his life, the instrumental "Donuts," was released Tuesday, February 7, 2006, three days prior to his death.

He formed the trio Slum Village in the late 1990s but left for a solo career after its successful first album.

In August of 2006 the album "The Shining" was released through BBE Records. Before J Dilla's passing, he asked close friend and long time collaborator Karriem Riggins to help him finish this album.
