- Tyrone Tootoosis was born on May 9, 1958 in Samson Reserve, Alberta, Canada. He was an actor, known for DreamKeeper (2003), The Englishman's Boy (2008) and Now & Forever (2002). He was married to Winona Wheeler. He died on February 12, 2017 in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada.

- Portrayed his own great-great-granduncle: Tyrone Tootoosis is the great-great-grandnephew of Canadian Cree leader, Pitikwahanapiwiyin; better known as Poundmaker. Tyrone Tootoosis played Poundmaker in the TV mini-series, Big Bear (1998).
- A member of the Poundmaker Cree Nation, he was instrumental in the development of Wanuskewin Heritage Park. He was also a historian, recording hundreds of interviews with First Nations elders.
