Biography

Ray Nance was born on December 10, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was an actor, known for Jam Session (1942), Timex All-Star Jazz Show (1957) and Adventures in Jazz (1949). He was married to Gloria. He died on January 28, 1976 in New York City, New York, USA.

Trumpeter, violinist, vocalist and dancer, best remembered as a key member of the famous Duke Ellington Orchestra (1940-63). Featured on many solos, including the classic "Take the 'A' Train" (1941). Led own septet in 1964 and a quartet from 1971.
