Biography

Amika Shail (born Gitashree Shil) is an Indian singer, songwriter, composer, and actor. She had an interest in the world of music from a very early age. She started learning music from her mother when she was five years old. After that, she was trained by singers like Nanda Das and Kaushik Bhattacharya. She later became a holder of the prestigious Sangeet Visharad title due to her exceptional singing skills.

She gained popularity in the Indian music industry with her unique voice and style of singing. She is particularly known for her work in Bollywood movies, OTT series, and TV shows.

She began her career in the television industry when she participated in the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs as a contestant at the age of nine- she has also participated in the Bengali version of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and other singing reality shows such as Star Voice of India, Indian Idol, and All India Radio Show. She has also sung for commercials of brands like Colgate, Dabur, Ujala, IPL, and Santoor.

Shail had a breakthrough in her career when she began acting on television. She made her debut as an actress with Udaan (2014) and later went on to act in daily soaps. Some of her most remarkable TV shows include Star Plus' Divya Drishti (2019), in which she played the role of Twinkle Shergill. Her role as Naagin in Sony SAB's Maddam Sir - Kuch Baat Hai Kyunki Jaazbaat Hai (2020) was appreciated. She was also cast as Vaayu Pari in Baalveer Returns (2019), Laal Ishq (2018), and Shaadi Ke Siyape (2019). Apart from these, she's also been part of renowned web series like Abhay (2019), Gunah (2019), and Khunnas (2021).

Some of the other works which she has been a part of include the horror-comedy movie Laxmii (2020), the TV series Mirzapur (2018), as well as films like Dog (2024) and Machaand (2022).

Shail represented the country at the World Youth Forum in Egypt from the 10th-13th January in 2022. In this event, she shared the stage with renowned artists from Russia, Brazil, Kenya, and several other countries.
