- Pace was killed in a light aircraft accident in the eastern slope of Serra da Cantareira, a city in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, on 18 March 1977, thirteen days after fellow Formula 1 driver Tom Pryce during the 1977 South African Grand Prix.

- In 1973, he drove for the works Ferrari team in the sports car racing. Sharing a Ferrari 312PB with Arturo Merzario, the duo finished 2nd place at the 1000 km Nürburgring and 24 Hours of Le Mans and 3rd place at 6 Hours of Watkins Glen.
- Teammates in Formula One were: Henri Pescarolo, Mike Hailwood, Jochen Mass, John Watson, Carlos Reutemann, Rolf Stommelen and Larry Perkins.
- Carlos Pace was a longtime childhood friend to Emerson Fittipaldi and a schoolmate to Wilson Fittipaldi Júnior.
