Biography

  • Peggy Bruen was born in the Empire State in a robust family of 9 siblings. Her father David D. Bruen was a successful, game-changing Democratic County Executive in the county of Putnam. Her mother Marilyn contracted polio in 1956, which took her legs. She had 6 children afterward. Peggy moved to Hollywood with her young husband Sean Delgado, a graduate of SVA, to make films.

Peggy is an award-winning writer/producer of multimedia shorts and feature films. Bruen has a strong background in marketing and fund-raising for such notable art organizations as The Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles (Director of Annual Fund, raising over $1 million a year) and The Pantages and Geffen Theaters in Los Angeles.

Bruen received international acclaim for her award-winning, avant-garde short film, Diversions, at Berlinale, Slamdance and 25 festivals worldwide. Along with Sean, she produced, co-directed and scripted the feature film An Existential Affair with Oscar-winner Martin Landau, distributed through Maverick Entertainment and Warner Pictures. Bruen joined the L.A. International Shorts Festival and Slamdance Festival in Utah as head programmer, creating loglines and synopsis for hundreds of scripts. She produced, directed and scripted Alexa, a 35mm feature film, distributed by Showtime.

Bruen operates Hydra Films LLC in Los Angeles in development with several adaptations and genre-driven Film and TV packages.

Before cinema, Peggy collaborated Off-Broadway in NY with legends Leonard Melfi, Sam Shepard and Patti Smith, producing their original stage plays: Raggedy Ann Says Hello and Cowboy Mouth.

Bruen has traveled extensively through North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Iceland and always thinks outside the box.
