Nasty Nes was born in Okinawa, Japan, and later moved with his mother and sister to Seattle, Washington, which became his longtime home and the foundation of his influential career in music and entertainment.
Nes is known not only for his acting, appearing in films such as Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, House Party 4 Down to the Last Minute, as well as television appearances including ER, but also for his groundbreaking work as a DJ, radio personality, and music executive.
He is the co-founder of Nastymix Records and is credited with discovering and championing Sir Mix-a-Lot, helping shape the Northwest hip-hop scene. Nes also worked with and supported numerous major artists throughout his career, building an extensive record of contributions to hip-hop and radio.
Known as the "Godfather of College Radio," Nes created Rap Attack, a syndicated radio program that helped bring hip-hop music to college radio stations and DJs across the country. His influence extended beyond broadcasting, including his involvement with artists such as Eazy-E and his work connecting emerging hip-hop talent with audiences nationwide.
