- (Friday January 9th 2004) The BBC halted his Kilroy (1986) programme after he made controversial remarks about Arabs in a newspaper article.
- He was a Labour MP between 1976 and 1983.
- [June 2004] Became an MEP for the UK Independence Party (UKIP), winning his seat by 26%, and helping the party jump to third highest votes in the Country, quadrupling its seats in the Euro elections.

- Arab countries are not shining examples of civilisation are they? Few of them make much contribution to the welfare of the rest of the world. Apart from oil - that was discovered, produced and paid for by the West - what do they contribute? I can't think of anything useful.
- I know that all Arabs are not suicide bombers of limb amputators. I know many are extremely urbane, intelligent, sophisticated and civilised people.
