Susan Morrison is an American journalist and author. In 1982, she graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University, then went on to receive a master's degree in English from the University of Manchester. She was an original editor of Spy magazine and the editor-in-chief of the New York Observer. She is the articles editor at the New Yorker. In 2025, Morrison released her first book 'Lorne: The Man Who Invented Saturday Night Live', a biography of producer Lorne Michaels. Morrison was previously married to journalist and screenwriter David Handelman. They have two children together, Helen and Nancy Handleman. Since 2015, Morrison has cohabitated with her partner, musician and actor Loudon Wainwright III.
