Biography

Chilean obstetrician and gynecologist; pioneer of the assisted reproduction technique called Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer (GIFT).

Graduated from Pontifical Catholic University of Chile with degree in Medicine.

Father of Javiera Balmaceda, Pedro Pascal, Nicolás Balmaceda and Lux Pascal.

Moved exiled from Chile to Denmark in 1975. After hiding his wife's cousin Andrés Pascal in his house and cure a MIR militant Nelson Gutiérrez at the Military dictatorship of Chile.

Lived in USA from 1976-1995.
