Karen Snow(IV)

Karen took on the triple-threat hat of being the Producer, Writer and Director of her first film "My Fair Mother: A Dancer Named Maxine Berke" Born and raised in NYC, she is the child of composer Gerald Alters and dancer Maxine Berke, and grew up fascinated by their many stories of show business. She started singing on her Father's commercial jingles at the age of nine, continuing for the next two decades, also working as an online Producer for her Father's Music House. A passionate devotee of old films, she obtained her M.A. in Cinema Studies from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and parlayed that with an equal curiosity for historical knowledge into a career as a researcher, learning the business of Intellectual Property rights and clearances, and the business of stock footage, obtaining a Certificate in IP from the NYU School of Continuing Education. She worked on hundreds of clearance and footage search jobs over a 35-year career, on such programs as "Comic Relief", numerous documentaries and countless advertising projects online, broadcasting and print. Her love of old film inspired her to enter a competition held by TCM in 2019 to celebrate their 25th Anniversary on the air, which entailed submitting a 90-second video explaining one's favorite film and who one would dedicate it to. Her video story of how her Mother triggered Karen's film passion to ignite at the age of 13 won her a place as one of the 25 fans chosen to go on camera to introduce her film choice, "The Adventures of Robin Hood". And it was her Mother's story that inspired Karen to create her first film, a bio-documentary on her Mother's dance career.
