- Byron Smith is an Emmy and ACE Eddie Award-nominated film and television editor with more than two decades of experience shaping ambitious, character-driven stories across drama, thriller, crime, and comedy.
His recent work includes Apple TV+’s Lucky, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, the upcoming Apple TV+ thriller Safe Houses, and Kill Jackie, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones. His extensive television credits also include House of Cards, Mindhunter, True Detective, Under the Banner of Heaven, and The Mosquito Coast.
Known for his command of performance, structure, tension, and tone, Byron also has extensive experience with visually complex and effects-driven filmmaking. His understanding of visual effects, sound, color workflows allows him to shape sequences from their earliest stages, even while many of their final elements are still being created.
Byron has collaborated with acclaimed filmmakers including David Fincher, Carl Franklin and James Foley. Whether building a series from its earliest stages or stepping in to reshape complex material, he brings a deeply collaborative approach, strong technical instincts, and a sharp editorial eye to every project.
Byron graduated from AFI and was recipient of the ACE Student Eddie Award, Byron continues to help filmmakers find the most compelling and emotionally resonant version of their stories.
