Antonio Alonso(XVI)

Antonio Alonso is a film director and professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication at Universidad Europea de Madrid. He began his career in the directing department of the Netflix series Élite, and has worked as a producer for Paramount International, where he developed and oversaw content for Paramount Channel, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV, and Viacom International Studios (VIS), the fiction division of Paramount Spain. He holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Universidad Europea de Madrid, a Master's in Screenwriting from UNIR, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Sustainability at the same university. His documentary The Lawyer: A Documentary in Tribute to the Skateboard Hero received significant media attention and won Best Documentary at the Almagro Film Festival in 2019, along with numerous selections at other national festivals. His fiction short film Malthus won First Prize at the Villanueva Showing Film Awards and was selected for the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. He is currently working on his next project, Three Women, a production by Calabaza Films distributed by InOut Distribution. The documentary explores the concept of success through the testimonies of three women from different generations: Benedicta Sánchez (Goya Award for Best New Actress), Marisol Soengas (Carmen and Severo Ochoa Award for Research), and Laura Barceló (three-time Spanish boxing champion). His next project is Where the Light Dies (2025), a psychological horror short film shot in both English and Spanish, set to premiere in 2026.
