Biography

Johnny Mann was born on August 30, 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He was an actor and composer, known for Texas Lady (1955), The Danny Kaye Show (1963) and Linus the Lionhearted (1964). He was married to Elizabeth Jane (Betty) Weinmann, Lynn Marie Dolin and Lori Nelson. He died on June 18, 2014 in Anderson, South Carolina, USA.

He and his singers have recorded radio jingles for many different radio stations since the 1960s, most notably KHJ and, currently, KRTH-FM in Los Angeles, all the other RKO Top 40 radio stations in the '60s and early '70s, and, currently, many other oldies stations in the U.S.

Along with Norman Luboff, Ray Conniff, and The Other Ray Charles, he was one of the premier chorus directors of the "golden age of mood music." More than a decade's worth of best-selling albums on Liberty Records (1958-1969) include: "Ballads of the King: The Songs of Sinatra," "Invisible Tears," "We Can Fly!," "Golden Folk Song Hits," and "Great Band with Great Voices," the last with Si Zentner's orchestra.

Body cremated and ashes given to family or friend.
