Her ancestry is mainly English, with small amounts of German, Scottish and Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, and distant French and Welsh. She has also described herself as being of part Cherokee Native American ancestry. These Cherokee roots have not yet been substantiated.

On June 24, 2010, she married her boyfriend of six years Brian Austin Green following a three-year on-and-off engagement. They married in a secret wedding ceremony at the Four Seasons Resort Maui in Hawaii with his son Kassius as their only witness.

At age 15, she was banned from Walmart for shoplifting (stealing cosmetics), and never came back.

On August 8, 2023, Fox announced the launch of her first book called "Pretty Boys Are Poisonous", a collection of her own poetry. The book was released on November 7 the same year and she revealed from there that she miscarried her pregnancy with what would have been her fourth child.

Has a medical condition called Brachdactyly type D, which caused her to have unique-looking thumbs. She practices meditation as her pursuit for personal grown and mindfulness. She also maintains a healthy lifestyle and is often seen working out or sharing fitness tips. She has expressed her affinity for astrology as her dedication to understanding herself and the world on a deeper level.

She eats salmon almost every single day to have her essential omega-3 fatty acids. Studies show that these fatty acids improve skin health and reduce overall inflammation into the body. She usually pairs her fish with simple sides like cucumber salad, edamame and miso soup.

She and Brian Austin Green are supporters of Generosity Water, and have funded the creation of over 10 water wells for the organization. She has also participated into charity auctions for organizations like the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Stand Up to Cancer.
