Nisa East is a documentary cinematographer whose work transcends traditional conventions. Her cinematography has screened at international film festivals including Sundance, Rotterdam, Hot Docs and New Orleans Film Festivals, and appeared in the 2019 Whitney Biennial in NYC. She has shot for Solange Knowles, The Guardian USA, The American Theatre Wing, and worked with notable directors Garrett Bradley, Elaine McMillion Sheldon & Maya Newell.
Nisa has a background in experimental film and visual ethnography, her visual language draws from dance, music, theatre, activism - all mediums of expression. As an auteur, she is interested in exploring the spaces between objective reality and poetic truth.
