Biography

Derk Visser is a Dutch actor. He was born in a little village, called Nieuw- Beijerland, not very far from the city Rotterdam. At the age of 3, he moved with his younger sister and parents to Streefkerk, a village in the "Alblasserwaard". From a very young age, it was already clear that he was a full of ideas and creativity. He has won at the age of 5 a "trottoir" drawing competition, participated in school Theater, and won a street acting competition at the age of 10. He also started playing the trumpet at age of 9 and played in the local "fanfare" Besides that he was fascinated by Athletics and martial arts from a young age. He showed his talent by winning many long jump, triple jump and high-jump competitions. His father was a former national boxing champion so he learned boxing at the age of 8 from his father. At the age of 14, together with his 3 younger sisters and parents he moved to the Belgian Ardennes in a village called Vielsalm, in the French speaking part of Belgium; La Wallonie, where he joined a local Karate school and an athletics school. At the age of 18 he became national Dutch champion with one the best jumps in history. The year after he became national champion again. Also he excelled in long jump and high jump. He was part of the Dutch national team for many years and his results were in the top 10 jumps in "The Benelux" for almost 10 years in a row. After college he worked for several years in the hospitality industry before making the decision to travel the world. Derk has Indonesian roots from his mother's side. The choice was easy and he decided to go to Indonesia. He instantly fell in love with this fascinating country. Around 2005 he started shooting commercials and gained success in TV/Film projects. Derk is also a professional chef and has already created a name in Indonesia. His Stage name is "Mas Derek". His show was aired on national Indonesian Television. Derk is also a certified Pencak Silat, the Indonesian martial art, "Pendekar" (word for master in this martial art)
