- Phil Lott is an Emmy-winning filmmaker, producer, director and cinematographer, known for his bold, cinematic storytelling. He's best known for co-directing, producing, and photographing the Netflix global #1s Amy Bradley is Missing, This is the Zodiac Speaking, and HBO's The Invisible Pilot (with Adam McKay).
With a reputation for setting the visual style and tone of landmark nonfiction series, Phil has helped define some of the genre's most successful franchises, including Locked Up Abroad (National Geographic), Undercover Boss (CBS, Emmy Award), Cold Case Files (A&E), and Shark Week (Discovery).
As a co-founder of AMPLE Entertainment, he has co-created and produced a wide slate of premium nonfiction hits, from Netflix's Best Natural History Documentary Emmy-nominee, Kangaroo Valley, Morimoto's Sushi Master and Murder in the Heartland to Peacock's The Hungry Games: Alaska's Big Bear Challenge, the epic Ancient Empires for History, and Netflix's #1 documentary feature film Jailbreak: Love on the Run.
As a cinematographer, Phil's work includes Indian Tales for Oscar-winner Asif Kapadia, the SXSW hit Kelly and Cal starring Juliette Lewis and Cybill Shepherd, and second-unit directing on Rust Creek, both with multi-award-winning director Jen McGowan.
In 2026, he announced SHADOW+LIGHT, a new venture which combines his documentary and cinematic work to develop both scripted and documentary films from the same true-life stories - at the same time.
