Biography

Bashar Ismael graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus, specializing in acting. He later obtained a diploma in theatre criticism from the same institute, and pursued advanced studies in media and political communication at the University of Damascus. He served as a member of the Syrian People’s Assembly (parliament) for two consecutive terms (2012-2020) representing Damascus. He ran on the National Progressive Front list, aligning with the Baath Party, and publicly voiced support for the Syrian government during the conflict, often participating in pro-government cultural events. He began his career as a radio presenter before entering formal acting training. He is fluent in French and English, having studied languages independently for diplomatic work. He received a state medal of merit for his parliamentary service in 2018. He is a trained calligrapher; his works have been exhibited at the Damascus Opera House.
