Biography

  • Heidi Baletic is a Serbian-British writer working across theatre, film and television. Her play Dead Man’s Coat was staged in London and Belgrade and broadcast on RTS. She wrote The Timetable of Andreas Sam, a stage adaptation of Danilo Kiš’s family trilogy (Yugoslav Drama Theatre, Belgrade), and adapted and directed Hi-Fi by Goran Stefanovski at CZKD. Heidi collaborated with Sky Atlantic, Canal+ and Warp Films on The Last Panthers, a TV series written by Jack Thorne and directed by Johan Renck, and was the head writer on the 11-part series Debt to the Sea, produced by Telekom Serbia and acquired by Disney+ Hotstar. Her feature credits include Take a Deep Breath, directed by Dragan Marinković (Best Foreign Language Feature Film, WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival), as well as Toma (feature and TV series, Cobra Film) and House, directed by Tanja Brzaković. She also wrote for Fox Kids and participated in the BBC's Casualty Shadow Scheme. She was selected for the Guiding Lights Filmmakers Scheme where she was mentored by Nick Hornby and is an alumna of Berlinale Talents and Serial Eyes, Europe’s leading writers’ room training programme. Her novel Take Me to Another Place was published to critical acclaim by Stubovi Kulture. Heidi is a member of the Writers' Guild of Great Britain, BAFTA Connect and the Association of Dramatic Artists of Serbia.
