Siân Richards is a makeup designer with over three decades of experience working across film, television, fashion and beauty. She began her career in London, building a strong foundation in fashion, beauty and commercial work, and by the age of 28 was already leading a film makeup department in the UK. Since then, her work has taken her across the world and across genres, from theatre and television to large-scale studio features.
Her career spans thousands of globally seen images, feature films, campaigns, editorials, posters and stills - and collaborations with actors, musicians, comedians, athletes and political figures. Known for both invisible, camera-ready work and complex character design, Siân brings a deep understanding of performance, continuity and storytelling to every project.
She is particularly recognized for her long-standing collaboration with Chadwick Boseman, contributing to many of his most significant performances, including Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Da 5 Bloods, 21 Bridges and his final role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Her work on Bessie (HBO) earned an Emmy nomination, and her transformational makeups on Halle Berry in Cloud Atlas received a Critics’ Choice Award.
Siân is also a trusted creative collaborator of LaKeith Stanfield. First meeting whilst serving as Makeup Department Head on Judas and the Black Messiah, then working closely with him in 2022 on The Book of Clarence. Their partnership continues across projects including Lear Rex and Die My Love, as well as editorial and red-carpet work.
Siân served as Makeup Designer and Department Head on Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler. The film became one of the most commercially successful and culturally significant original movies of the decade, leading the 2026 awards season with record Academy Award nominations and earning Siân a BAFTA, Critics Choice, Saturn, MUAHS and NAACP nominations for Makeup Design.
Holding British, US and Maltese citizenship and based in Los Angeles, Siân brings a global perspective and decades of on-set experience to every production, grounding her work in storytelling, collaboration and respect for performance.
