Biography

Will Hollis

Mini bio

  • Raised in the steel town of Pittsburgh, Will Hollis' love for film began at an early age. By the age of 3, he already knew how to work a VCR, beginning his fondness for movies... until he shoved a peanut butter sandwich into the VCR slot. It was then on to DVDs and ordering Pay-Per-View behind his mother's back. His movie collection started in 2001 with The Emperor's New Groove and has grown to over 450 films.

In 2017, on a whim, he enrolled in a film class in Community College. This gave him the realization that film, his favorite hobby, could possibly be his career. His first directing project was a spec commercial shot in the freezing cold, having just learned to work the camera that day. At the end of his first semester, he made "Main Street", a musical love story shot in the streets of Carnegie. Later that summer, it made entry into the "Carnegie Screenwriters Script and Screen Festival".

In August of 2017, he began a bachelor's program in Cinema and Media Studies at Point Park University. He has gone on to make "Intermission", a short about a struggling musician thinking about turning his back on the business, as well as "Somewhere", a piece about a woman recovering from trauma following an abusive relationship. In December of 2019, he graduated Point Park with his degree and is constantly continuing to make each one of his films better than the last.
