  • One of David Schifter's favorite lines is, "Don't ever tell me I can't do something. I just might surprise you" The American actor was on the rise as a TV news investigative reporter right out of college, later winning numerous awards including two Emmy nominations and the coveted Emmy itself for a investigative series on deadbeat dads. David never expected he'd be doing anything reporting. But the acting bug bit and he left a career of 14-years for film and television acting opportunities.

David has been seen on Showtime's "City On A Hill" starring Kevin Bacon, in the semi-recurring role of Detective J.D. Walker on ID Discovery's "Lt. Kenda: Homicide Hunter," and Tyler Perry's "The Have & Have Nots." He has played everything from law enforcement roles, serial killers and cheating husbands.

David became comfortable in front of the camera as a teenager as host of a live New York City cable TV show "Spotlight on Teens."

In 2017 he won a LA IndieFest "Best Actor" award for the lead role in an African-produced film in Nigeria. In 2019 he co-starred with Michael Pare' and Nicholas Turturro in a thriller set at the beach titled "The Penthouse" which he also wrote and produced. In 2023 a mountain thriller, "Black Balsam" was released featuring David's writing and acting skills. He has several other scripts in various stages of development.

A native New Yorker, David now loves living the beach lifestyle in North Carolina and traveling worldwide to act. He is also a career firefighter and EMT, which he says is the most fulfilling work he's ever done.

Quotes

  • There is nothing more satisfying than doing what you love and coming home to the one you love." "It's nice to be important but more important to be nice.
  • I auditioned for the Sandra Bullock film, 28 Days. The role was great and I was perfect for it. Got a callback and thought, Yeah, this is going to happen! Well it didn't. The scene was going to be me as a New York Times reporter interviewing Bullock's character in a theatre. But the conversation was very woman to woman so they cast accordingly. I understand the decision, but, damn that would have been fun.
