With a background in both Performing Arts and Journalism, Luciana Malavasi is a Brazilian producer, director, and screenwriter. She began her artistic journey at a young age as an actress, performing in various theater and audiovisual productions. Later, she transitioned into journalism, writing for entertainment magazines, an experience that sharpened her critical eye for narratives, character development, and the construction of media discourse.
This blend of acting, writing, and social observation became the foundation of her signature cinematic style. In 2023, she furthered her expertise in film directing at the New York Film Academy (NYFA), solidifying her career as an audiovisual filmmaker.
As the founder of Pulsante Filmes, she has written, produced, and directed several short films. Among them is Iris's Window (A Janela de Íris), which won Best Director at the Rotterdam Independent Film Festival and the Berlin Short Awards, and is currently available on Prime Video and other streaming platforms.
Her most recent work, the short film The New Flesh (O Novo Corpo), had its world premiere in October 2025 in the Noves Visions Petit Format section of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, one of the world's most prestigious genre film festivals.
Currently, Luciana is overseeing the post-production of her first feature film, Under The Broken Sky (O Que Sobrou do Céu), which was filmed in Rio de Janeiro in August 2025.
