- German Segal was born in Izhevsk, Russia, to Olga Segal (Korobeynikova), a university teacher, and Sergey Segal, a lawyer. From a young age, German developed a passion for cinema and dreamed of becoming an actor. He first started taking acting classes in his hometown during his teens, and after finishing school, decided to audition for drama schools.
He went on to study at the Moscow Art Theatre School for four years, graduating in 2018, after which he worked in Russian TV shows, films, and theatre.
His first English-language project was a series regular role as Russian hacker Vadim Trusov in the British TV series "The Undeclared War" for Channel 4 / Peacock, directed by Peter Kosminsky, which premiered in 2022. That same year, he was accepted at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (MA Acting for Screen) in London, where he graduated with distinction.
German reunited with Kosminsky in 2024 to play the diplomat Henry Olisleger in the BBC/PBS miniseries "Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light," opposite Mark Rylance.
He most recently returned to his role as Vadim Trusov in "The Undeclared War" Series 2, directed by Paul McGuigan, which released in 2026 on Channel 4 and Peacock.
German now resides in London, England, and works internationally.
