Marjan Mona Koffa is a Liberian-American writer/director based in Los Angeles with an MFA in Film and Television Production from USC's School of Cinematic Arts. As a storyteller, she's largely inspired by the personal and social belief systems that shape who we are. Her work often engages themes of identity, tradition, and belonging, marrying provocative thought with entertainment, inviting audiences to reflect critically on the origins of those beliefs.
Marjan's latest short film Fufu and Soup, a comedy/drama that explores the ideas of female acquiescence in womanhood premiered at the 2025 American Black Film Festival. The pilot script Fufu and Soup is an official selection of the 2025 Stowe Story Labs Writers' Retreat. Her directorial debut, Mind Over Fatter, a social satire about weight loss culture, premiered at the 2023 LA Shorts International Film Festival and was a finalist for NALIP's Narrative Short Film Incubator. Her feature debut script, My Darling Girl, has been in consideration for the Sundance Development Track. Her short drama, In the Name of Love, was acquired by Aspire TV for their Urban Indie Programming. Marjan is a finalist for the inaugural Tyler Perry Dream Collective Program.
Marjan began her career as a production assistant at National Geographic, managing deliverables and supporting television specials. Since then, she's moved through the industry from development to distribution, working across both narrative and documentary forms.
