Biography

Mark Shields was born on May 25, 1937 in Weymouth, Massachusetts, USA. He was a writer, known for PBS News Hour (1975), Inside Washington (1988) and The 38th Republican National Convention (2004). He was married to Anne Hudson. He died on June 18, 2022 in Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA.

He was a former campaign manager who became a well-known political commentator, both as a syndicated columnist and on PBS NewsHour.

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame, and served in the Marine Corps for two years.
