Mini bio

  • Nico Quijano is an actor, stunt performer, fight choreographer, director and producer known for action films and cultural martial arts documentaries. Born in the Bronx, New York, and of Puerto Rican and Irish heritage, Quijano later served in the U.S. Army and law enforcement before transitioning into film.

Drawing on decades of martial arts training and real-world tactical experience, Quijano has worked as a stunt performer, stunt driver, weapons consultant and fight choreographer on independent productions. He is the creator, director and star of the award-winning action film Ranger.

Beyond film, Quijano is internationally recognized for preserving the Afro-Caribbean warrior arts of Puerto Rico and Cuba, including Cocobale, Calinda and El Juego de Mani. He studied with the last generation of traditional teachers, including the late Juan De Dios Ramos Morejon, and has taught seminars throughout the United States and internationally.

Quijano continues to work in film as a director, actor and action coordinator while documenting the history and cultural significance of these martial traditions through books and documentary projects.
