- Nikolaj Arcel was born on August 25, 1972 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is a writer and director, known for The Promised Land (2023), A Royal Affair (2012) and King's Game (2004).

- Graduated from the National Film School of Denmark (Den Danske Filmskole) in 2001.
- A graduate of the European Film College in Ebeltoft, Denmark. He attended in 1994/1995. Other alumni include the director Joachim Trier, the cinematographer Charlotte Bruus Christensen and screenwriter Rasmus Heisterberg.
