[on her favorite shoe designs] There is one in particular that I love, which is called 'Bananas is My Business', named after a famous Carmen Miranda song. It was a high-heeled platform, embellished with fruit cutouts. There is something that resonates there with me that I love so much. I think it's because it was very colorful and fun and it kind of goes with everything. 'What fruit doesn't go with an outfit?' is how I think of it.

I think the heart and soul of my brand comes from my nostalgia for old Hollywood glamor in the late '40s and '50s. I love the pinups and the movie stars from that time because of the glamor, but also I think it was a time that was rich in accessories. A time when a wouldn't leave the house without a hat or a pair of gloves and matching her stockings to her shoes.
