Mini bio

  • James Ken Blackmon is a Los Angeles, CA based Writer/Director/Producer/Actor. Originally from the East Coast’s New England area of the United States, he first began his career on the stages of New York City. Since then, James has worked alongside influential figures including Beyoncé (Formation), to veteran actors such as Eric Roberts (Tacoma). James has also partnered with enduring brands such as Harley-Davidson, HP, Serengeti, and has become an official Ambassador for the legendary American motorcycle brand Indian Motorcycle.

Not one to take his foot off the gas when it comes to creativity, James’ directorial debut film Recovery Phase, was an exploration of the often misunderstood intersection of trauma and addiction. The hard-hitting drama was an Official Selection of the Malibu Film Festival (screening at the DGA theater in LA), the Silicon Beach Film Festival (screening at the world famous TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood), and the Ethos Film Festival.

An avid champion of the documentary space - James went on to produce, write, and EP the heart-warming documentary Sugar & Spade. The film quickly found an audience and screened around the world, taking the producing team to countries such as France, Morocco, Belgium, and Portugal (for the Lisbon Motorcycle Film Festival).

James’ scripted directorial project A Studio Night, was written in dedication to his friend and former bandmate, who tragically died. Telling this deeply personal story was a natural evolution in the overall arc of Blackmon’s journey. The narrative film premiered to a sold-out theater at the Culver City Film Festival, and was an Official Selection of both the Golden State Film Festival and the Marina del Rey Film Festival.
