Chester Charles Bennington was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Susan Elaine (Johnson), a nurse, and Lee Russell Bennington, a police detective. His parents divorced when he was 11 years old. He has two half sisters and a half brother. He attended Centennial High School at the beginning of his freshman year. Then he went to Greenway High School where he started his first band, Grey Daze. He graduated from Washington High School in 1994.

Was the one who came up with the name Linkin Park for his band (taken from the name of a park in Santa Monica, CA). It was originally supposed to be spelled "Lincoln" but since the band couldn't afford to buy the domain name lincolnpark.com from its owner, they changed the spelling in order to buy linkinpark.com.
Died in the same manner and on the birthday of his friend Chris Cornell.
Adopted his oldest son's brother. He now has four sons: Jaime, Draven, Tyler, and Isaiah.
He and wife Talinda welcomed their new baby boy, Tyler Lee, on 16th March 2006. He weighed 9 lb. 3 oz.
At 15 years old he played in a band called "Sean Dowdell and Friends" in which he was the lead singer. The only existing evidence of this band is a three-song tape that includes "Painted Pictures", "Kill The Flies" and "God's Afraid".

Luckily, I found music and that was my niche. That sorta took me out of my geekdom. I was never invited to parties as a teenager--I turned up with the popular people.
