Kaan Lativan

Kaan Lativan is an Indonesian film actor whose work spans Southeast Asian and European cinema. He is formally trained in theater, holding a BA in Theatre from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, where he developed a strong foundation in physical performance, voice, and character transformation.
He is one of the few Indonesian actors to have appeared in multiple Academy Awards International Feature submissions, representing both Indonesia and the Netherlands.
He made his feature film debut as the lead in Memories of My Body (2018), which was selected as Indonesia’s official submission to the Academy Awards, earning him the Best Actor Award at the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI).
In 2021, he appeared in Yuni, directed by Kamila Andini, which was chosen as Indonesia’s official entry for the Academy Awards International Feature category.
He later starred in the Dutch feature film Sweet Dreams (2023), directed by Ena Sendijarević, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and was selected as the Netherlands’ official submission for the Academy Awards 2024, with its North American premiere at TIFF.
His work spans independent and mainstream productions, and he continues to pursue international collaborations, bringing a performance style rooted in physical awareness, restraint, and emotional precision.
